Hermes Theft of Apollo's Cattle
As a toddler it was said that Hermes God of Speed stole Apollo's cow. It was said the day Hermes was born sitting in rags, he escaped and made pursuit towards Pieria. Once he retrieved all the cattle put boots on them to keep them from being detected and led them to a near by cave and hid them all in there except for two. He ended up sacrificing two of them and pinning their hide on rocks and cooking some of the meat for a dinner.
Hermes and the war of the Gigantes
Hermes being the god of speed and messenger of the gods was a large part of the war of the Gigantes. Not only was he a messenger for the two sides but he also fought in the war. Being such a powerful god and having great utensils he did fine with his duties on the front line. He was the one who had killed the leader Gigante Hippolytus. This had made him very well known and also a great war hero. It was said he was using a golden sword and wearing the helmet of Hades to help him in his duties. The two equipment pieces made a big part in the outcome of the war and him slaying Gigante Hippolytus.
