Poseidon: God of Sea

Powers and Domains
Poesiedon ruled the Mediterranean and Black Sea. He lived on the ocean floor in a golden palace, that was made with coral and gems. He would ride in a chariot journey in a horse drawn chariot. He could control the seas in any way he wanted. He could destroy boats, and he could even make earthquakes. Poseidon also created all the creatures of the sea, and horses.
Weaknesses and/or Character Traits
Poseidon is a warrior God known for being violent . He is moody and unpredictable and . He shows this when he attacked Odysseus for injuring his cyclopes brother, Polyphemus. One of Poseidon's weaknesses are also women. He has had many mistresses with people including Gea, Demeter, Aphrodite, and many nymphs. Poseidon is also very greedy and aggressive. He was always searching for more gold and pearls for his wealth, and trying to increase the size of his underwater palace.

Significant Myth of Poseidon
Poseidon and Athen(the Goddess of wisdom and war) had a contest on who would rule Athens. Poseidon struck the ground with his trident producing a salt water spring, symbolizing the naval power he could grant Athens. Athena created an olive tree symbolizing the peace and prosperity she could adorn Athens with. Athena ended up winning the hearts of the people of Athens. So, she was the Goddess of choice of the famous city of Athens.
