History- Zeus Basics:
Zeus was the sixth born to Cronus and Rhea. Cronus believed that his children would overtake him so he ate them, but Rhea tricked Cronus into eating a bag of rocks instead of Zeus. His borthers and sisters were Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter, and Hera. Some believe Cronus was given a drug to vomit up his children, while others believe that Zeus cut open Cronus's stomach to free his siblings. Zeus later overtook his father and inprisoned him in the underworld, making Zeus the most powerful god. It is said that Zeus recieved the lightning bolt from the Cyclops. The Cyclops were the giants that assisted Zeus in the war against his father. Zeus was also refered to as Jupiter by the Romans, because they belived that he had the same powers as the Roman god Jupiter. Zeus, although he was married, fell in love quickly. This behavior of falling in love with everyone left him with 52 mortal children total and 40 immortal children.
