Origin of Artemis
Artemis was born to Leto, known as the Goddess of Motherhood. She was born on the island of Ortygia. After she was born, she then proceeded to help her mother give birth to her brother, Apollo, on the island of Delos. She was also known as the Goddess of Fertility because she was able to help women survive through childbirth without pain, which is why she was able to help her mother give birth to her twin right after she was born. Delos was thought to be a floating island. Her mother was forced to give birth to her brother Apollo on Delos and not on Ortygia because she was being chased by Hera. Hera was the wife of Zeus, who was the father of Artemis and Apollo. Hera was very mad that Zeus had children with Leto, so she chased her until she had to stop.
