Artemis was mentioned in several early texts, one even dating back to the 8th Century, B.C.

“Parthenius, Love Romances 9” from the 3rd Century, B.C.
“Pausanias, Description of Greece” from the 2nd Century, B.C.
“Strabo, Geography” from the 1st Century, B.C.
“Diodorus Siculus, Library of History” from the 1st Century, B.C.
Many of these texts were referencing her various cults. In southern, central, and northern Greece, her cults were in Argolis, Sikyonia, Korinthia, Aigina, Salamis, Megaris, Attika, Akhaia, Boiotia, Euboia, Phokis, Ozolean Lokris, Aitolia, and Thessalia. Delos, Naxos, Lesbos, Samos, Ikaria, Rhodes, and Krete had cults to Artemis in the Aegean Sea, while Asia Minor had cults to her in Troad, Teuthrania, Lydia, Karia, Pamphylia, Byzantion, Phrygia, and Kilikia. Tauric Khersonese was a cult to her in the south of Ukraine, Italy had cults to her in Sicily and Veneto, her Gaul cult was in France, and in Spain, her cult was in Iberia.
